Peace Crops Becomes BDI capacity partner; Provides Grant Writing Training to BDI

Monrovia- The United States Government Peace Corps in Liberia has begun the training of BDI’s business development team in grant writing and requirement-based writing. The training which is facilitated by a US-based professional grant writer seeks to build the capacity of the BDI team so that the team can write compelling grant proposals and even become competitive.

Jehmu Diana Moore Kerwhen, Response Program Manager at Peace Corps speaking at the induction event thanked BDI for the push for the opportunity. She noted that now that BDI has it, BDI needs to make maximum use of it and improve its grant writing skills. “The online training is a pilot, if you take it seriously, we could include you in future training opportunities,” said Jehmu.

Speaking at the induction meeting between Peace Corps and BASA Development Initiatives, Charles Brewer, Director of Programs at BDI praised Peace Corps for the opportunity. Mr. Brewer noted that grant writing is an important component of development work. Hence BDI sees it as very important and will make proper use of the training.

The 12 weeks of training which starts in February will end in April 2023. At least 7 team members from BASA are currently benefiting from the training.
